Booking a consultation with one of our Doctors at our clinics across Queensland is the first step of your AFib journey with us.

Did you know that you can speak with your GP about a referral to access the specialist support from the Atrial Fibrillation Institute? The AFib Institute is a group of highly experienced Electrophysiologist Cardiologists within the Queensland Cardiovascular Group; and you can review our team of specialists even before you visit your GP.

Our specialist team of Electrophysiologist Cardiologists, working closely with our Imaging and Interventional Cardiologists across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast will ensure you are partnered with the right Doctor, matched to your specific needs.

Your Cardiologist becomes a key partner in your care with Atrial Fibrillation. Electrophysiologist Cardiologists are the atrial fibrillation and heart rhythm specialists. They will take time to explain the condition, and how it changes with you over the years. You can discuss the relevant treatment options, including medications, procedures and lifestyle factors that can have an impact on your Atrial Fibrillation.

Your initial consultation will take around 40 minutes. There is usually a lot of information to cover in the initial meetings, so please feel free to invite a family member or friend into your consultation.

How do I Prepare?

Please ensure you bring the following to your appointment:

  • Your referral
  • Your Medicare card
  • List of your current medications
  • Your private health fund card, DVA Gold card or Pensioner card (if applicable).
  • Blood tests, other test results, previous medical records, scans etc. that might relate to your appointment
  • If you are a new patient, please complete the new patient registration form prior to your appointment. This can be filled out in our rooms on the day of your appointment

For comprehensive information on our various practice locations visit our locations page. We advise you leave plenty of time to get to your appointment if you have not been to our rooms before.

If you have any concerns regarding how to find us, contact our rooms on 07 3016 1111.

If you are unable to make your appointment and need to reschedule or cancel, you must let us know as soon as possible.

We work closely with our referring doctors to co-manage your health care. Your GP or specialist will always receive a detailed letter and / or test report from your cardiologist following your consultation and / or test. This will be sent electronically and via post or fax ensuring it arrives promptly and securely.

As a patient, your experience is our primary focus. Our patients all receive individualised attention by cardiologists, nurses, scientists, technicians and office staff.
